Large-scale system for climate tests with S!MCON control
Design
The system consists of the following main components:
- Walk-in, insulated test room
- Air treatment room
- Machine unit
- Air conditioning system
- Control cabinet
Test room
The fixtures in the test room are made of corrosion-resistant material.
The test room can be illuminated, is walk-in, and has a condensate and cleaning drain.
Air treatment room
The air treatment room is located behind the air baffle in the insulated interior.
It contains the following components necessary for temperature control and is accessible via easily removable panels.
- Test room fans
- Heat exchangers
- Electric heaters
- Ventilation and exhaust system
- Temperature sensors
In the air treatment room, the air is tempered (cooled/heated), humidified and dehumidified, and circulated by fans.
The air is drawn in under the ceiling and expelled at floor level.
Sensors
The temperature and humidity sensors are located behind the air baffle in the air treatment room.
Machine Unit
The machine unit, consisting of refrigeration units, supplies the air treatment room with the required energy.
Climate System
The climate system consists of:
- Steam humidifier
- Dehumidification evaporator

Test chamber volume: approx. 32 m³
Direct temperature range: -40 to +100°C
Temperature fluctuation over time in the center of the usable space: +/- 0.5 to +/- 1
Temperature change rate
Heating: from -35°C to +50°C at 3 K/min
Cooling: from +85°C to +85°C at 2 K/min
from +80°C to -40°C at 1 K/min
Data for climate testing
Temperature range: 10 to 95°C
Humidity range: 10 to 95% RH
Dew point range: 5 to 93°C
Temperature fluctuation: +/- 5°C
