Paques IC -reactor

Industrial wastewater flows into the reactor and is mixed with granulated anaerobic biomass in a distribution system. Organic compounds are converted into methane (biogas). Biogas is collected in the lower phase separator, creating a "gas lift." Along with the biogas, the liquid flows upwards through a riser pipe. The biogas exits the reactor in the liquid/gas separator. The water returns through a downcomer pipe to the distribution system, hence the name: internal cycle. The wastewater is treated in a second, upper chamber. Biogas from the second chamber is collected in the upper phase separator. The treated wastewater leaves the reactor, and the biogas is extracted from the reactor.
