The design of the base machine is characterized by the following features:

- Horizontal orientation of the workpiece spindle; vertical orientation of the milling spindle or milling head
- Workpiece is held between the workpiece spindle stock (left) and the tailstock (right)
- The radial slide is mounted on the base (X-axis)
- The axial slide traverses on the radial slide (Z-axis)
- The pin milling head is equipped with an automatic angle adjustment (A-axis); the pin slide (Y-axis) moves tangentially to the workpiece diameter
