Hobbing Machines for Large Gears

Flexible and Versatile Gear Hobbing

Gleason’s large hobbing machines offer maximum productivity for roughing
and finishing operations on cylindrical gears for many industries:
wind turbines, industrial gearboxes, mining, and shipbuilding, gear machining,
and many more.

The guideways are wide and feature hydraulically preloaded
guides, which are used in combination with a separate linear guide and backlash-
free
rollers. This ensures precise slide movements with
every feed.

The design of the worktable ensures optimal conditions for
absorbing and transferring cutting forces to the machine base. The use
hydrostatic table bearings, combined with the proven backlash-free
double-worm gear, guarantees precise table movements and the highest flatness
and concentricity accuracies of the worktable. This holds true regardless of
significant
fluctuations in workpiece weight and/or high machining forces.

The motorized gear hobbing heads for external and internal gear cutting are
designed to meet the
requirements of modern cutting tools. All machine sizes
can be equipped with both external and internal gear hobbing heads.

The power range of the drive takes future
tool developments into account. Naturally, the gear hobbing head drive
is also backlash-free. These machines are particularly well-suited for use with
state-of-the-art cutting materials.
